I admit I’ve been quite negligent when it comes to my site. I’ve made lots of art since the last update and will be steadily refreshing the content here to be more in line with what I’ve been working on lately.
Traditional Art
My latest venture involves traditional art. I’ve been trying to get back to basics lately, drawing with analog tools (admittedly with some digital help while I shake off the rust). I’ve drew a large number of drawings on card stock and heavyweight watercolor paper. In regards to that, it seems social media, especially Instagram, is really cracking down on anything that might be the least bit sexual these days. My account has been completely shadow-banned and I feel I’m just going to need to make another account entirely. But I have no intention of changing what or how I draw, so it might end up being a waste of time.
And that’s why I’m here, really. It’s about time I return to using my own website for everything Jonathan Price Art related, with social media just being used to guide interested folks here.
I tried to open an eBay shop to sell my traditional art, but after selling one drawing, the page was shut down for reasons unknown. I talked about it on my Facebook page, but the long and short is that eBay’s algorithm flagged my account for some mysterious reason and I was permanently suspended from doing business on the site.
So if anyone would like to support me and buy some hand-drawn original artwork, I’ll be uploading some products to the store page to show what’s available. Here is one example:
Game Dev
I’ve also been dabbling with Unreal Engine. I’d hoped to be able to follow up after my first game using it, but alas, I couldn’t nail down a good idea. That said, I did have a lot of fun learning the ins and outs of the engine. Here is a YouTube video of something I experimented with.
I think Unreal is the next logical progression for me as a game developer if I ever get back into it. I made attempts with other engines, and I’m afraid I’m just not the kind of guy who can code traditionally. Godot is out of the question. Unity proved too buggy for me and I’m just uncomfortable with Game Maker. Rather than keep searching for the right solution, I’m either going to stick with what I already know (Construct 3) or learn Unreal Engine. But again, I don’t really have a clear game idea right now, so it’s really just me learning how to use tools for the sake of using it.
Making sprites is still fun though. I actually created a mini course showing my process for creating character sprites in DragonBones. It’s pay-what-you-want so anyone can give it a look.
Art Business
I am looking for work. I draw in both traditional and digital formats, I’m still heavily into character design and illustrations of strong and sexy warrior women (and men!) and I’m even open to creating game sprites such as the ones I’ve made for the Jet Dancer game or the Unreal Engine prototype linked above. Contact me with any inquiries!
In addition, while I work to update my portfolio and store, you can check out my INPRNT store for fine prints of my latest works!
